Our aim is to make the DragonFlyer not only super fun to build and sail, but also truly affordable while maintaining our normal highest standards, both in the boat itself—high-quality marine ply and solid woods, hardware, sails, and rigging—and the detailed building manual, plan sheets, photos, illustrations, and other information of great help to builders.

As one of our customers said, "That's a good deal. That's less than a Shellback!"
It IS a great deal, one that we can offer only with this first group of kits.

Now is the time to think about summer, if you want a new DragonFlyer. Think summer: sailing off the beach in a harbor or a cove . . . the kids or grandkids out learning and having fun . . . you out teaching and sailing with them, in a boat that isn’t too big for them yet can also be big enough for you—a boat you can all smile about? How about being able to spend a few minutes rigging then go for a spirited, fun sail  whenever, and pretty much wherever you feel like it . . . a “sail ride” instead of a bike ride?

That would be great!

And building the DragonFlyer is as much fun as sailing her . . . whether or not you’ve ever built a boat before. She’s a perfect family project but also ideal if you’re working alone.

Last summer we built
Zip, the prototype for the DragonFlyer, and introduced her at the Maine Boats Homes and Harbors Show, then conducted sailing trials (read: had serious fun sailing with our kids, friends, and customers) for several months until arriving winter forced us to put Zip in the shed. Zip the DragonFlyer has met with enthusiasm, acclaim, and smiles from all, particularly from those who have sailed her. Zip and the DragonFlyer design has been featured in WoodenBoat’s Small Boats and also Maine Boats, Homes, and Harbors (magazine and online); more articles will be coming out in over the next few months—we’ll let you know when we know! Meanwhile, we’re busy working here in the office, studio, and shop . . . and doing our best to stay warm.

Friends can fly too!

The only thing better zipping along in one DragonFlyer is another one (or more) for learning together, going adventuring, spirited racing, and—quite likely—some excellent fun times with the water squirters. Talk to your friends, would they like to be out there sailing this summer, too? And, you can work together to build your DragonFlyers, a wonderful family, neighborhood, or community project.

Help DragonFlyer fly faster and farther!

DragonFlyer is a such a fun, comfortable, agile boat, she can be sailed and enjoyed by everyone, starting with little people old enough to go along for the ride and help pull a string or hold the tiller to kids of all ages and experience (who like to go fast . . . or not) to adults who love the feel and fun of sailing a boat that responds surely and intimately. She can take you out for a quiet ghost-along barely-a-breath-of-wind, relaxing sail; a spirited going-right-along sail; or a here-we-go, where-are-the-hiking-straps blasting sail. She’s a joy to sail. Please help us spread the word, by talking with folks, and also by sharing our website or liking and
sharing our Facebook page and DragonFlyer posts.

Snow on the ground and cold here . . . but every day the sun grows stronger (and is up earlier) and the days grow longer . . . we're on our way to summer. It's time!
