If you would like to  learn glued-lapstrake boatbuilding directly from John, he teaches at the WoodenBoat School. Classes typically run from Sunday evening until the following Saturday (two-week classes end on the second Friday evening), with a small group of ten or so students. This year, John taught a new two-week-long class in building his Somes Sound 12 1/2 (July 20 – August 2) and his introductory class in Glued-Lapstrake Plywood Construction (Aug. 17 – 23). (His class in Finishing Out Small Boats took a break this year.)

For more on the Somes Sound 12 1/2 design, please visit our blog, www.brooksboatsdesigns.blogspot.com.

Registration for the 2009 season begins in January. These classes are popular and often fill quickly.
